How important is customer service?
If you are a good salesperson, you can sell anything to anyone once. But it will be your approach to customer service that determines whether or not you will ever be able to sell that person anything else. The essence of good customer service is forming a relationship with your customer – a relationship your customer would like to pursue.
How do you go about forming such a relationship? By remembering the one true secret of good customer service and acting accordingly, “You will be judged by what you do, not what you say.”
IT’S ABOUT JOBS!
Our nation is experiencing a 25 year high in unemployment. Does it look any better for 2010? Maybe Not! Mortgage loan delinquencies are rising nationwide. Foreclosures have not slowed down. The states of California, Arizona, Nevada and Florida, were hit the hardest in 2009. These four states had nearly 1/3 of the foreclosures recorded last year.
Assuming that businesses continue to close or downsize, and more people continue to loose jobs, the ability to pay mortgage payments will become more difficult. Modification programs have helped some homeowners hold on to their homes. But, that has not been true for the majority that faced financial difficulty in 2009.
So many of us are frustrated with the condition of our economy. We are stressed out because everything we hear in the media or on the street seem to be all bad news. We are worried about our sons and daughters that are graduating from college with education loans to repay. Will they be able to find a job in this economy? We worry about the debt our children and grandchildren are facing with the national debt being so enormous.
Maybe it’s time to start your own business! It may seem insane at first, but it may be a reasonable way to make a living. Just think of something that you enjoy doing, and turn it into a service that you can offer. Yes, if you like to shop, even shopping will work! Start a Personal Shopper business. Sounds crazy huh? Well, a few bags of flour and some chocolate chips worked out pretty well for Mrs. Fields. And, let’s not short sell Bill Gates with his little shop in the garage. You do not need a lot of money to start a business. You need a little “know how” and the heart to survive the hard times. Who knows…you may become famous!!
